Hello...

I'm Stephanie Brown and I pretty much live and breathe stuff about art. Mostly I paint portraits, although I do enjoy many other creative pursuits. So every now and then I make a point of stopping what I'm doing and add a little post about the latest painting or project or whatever I've got on the go.

Adele Horin

Adele Horin, Oil on Linen, 106.6 x 83.6cm

This year for the first time, with a little bit of coaxing I decided to enter The Achibald Prize. The portrait is to preferentially be of some man or woman distinguished in Art, Letters, Science or Politics. I was fortunate enough to meet Adele Horin recently and she kindly agreed to sit for the portrait.  Adele Horin has been a journalist for the Sydney Morning Herald, now defunct National Times, Radio National and The West Australian and has worked as a correspondent in New York, Washington and London, winning a Walkley and a Human Rights Commission award. Her weekly column covers a wide range of social issues from refugees to why teenagers always claim "there's nothing to eat" while standing before a packed fridge.

A wonderful portrait - I'm a great fan of Adele Horin's work - whether or not I agree with her.
